A hydrogen breath test was carried out on 16 girls and 14 boys, 14 months to 11 years old, who showed signs and symptoms of lactose intolerance. They were given 250 ml of milk and breath was sampled at 60-min intervals during 6 h. After 24 h the test was repeated but with a commercial beta -galactosidase (KerulacReg.) added to the milk at 6 drops per litre.
