Use of air reel and narrow pitch cutterbar to reduce soybean harvesting header losses

Use of air reel and narrow pitch cutterbar to reduce soybean harvesting header losses

II congreso argentino de ingenieria rural [Argentinian conference on agricultural engineering] Proceedings of a conference held in Villa Maria, Argentina, 23-25 September 1992: 68

The effect of cutterbar system, air reel, forward speed and reel speed to forward speed ratio on header losses during soyabean harvesting was investigated. The air reel reduced header losses by 53.1 and 50% at 4.7 and 7.7 km/h, resp. At 4.7 km/h the 1.5 x 1.5 and 1.5 x 3 in cutting systems reduced losses by 21 and 24.5%, resp., compared with the 3 x 3 in system, whilst at 7.7 km/h the reduction was 30.3 and 21%, resp., for the 2 cutting systems.
