Abstract
Radial increment was measured with microdendrometers on 850 Norway spruce [Picea abies] trees on 11 sample plots in Germany in 1987-89, and visual assessments of vitality were made on each individual tree twice a year. The results of the vitality assessments are shown in diagrams giving the detailed percentage frequencies in the individual vitality classes. This technique demonstrates changes in vitality at intervals of two years.
