Weed management in banana cv. Nendran with cowpea as an intercrop

In field trials conducted at Trichur, Kerala, during 1987-1988, pre-em. diuron (1.25-2.5 kg/ha) and post-em. paraquat (0.8-1.2 kg 2 months after planting (MAP) or 3 sprays of 0.4 kg at monthly intervals commencing 2 MAP), glyphosate (at 0.8 kg 2 MAP) and combinations of 2,4-D + dalapon (at 1.0 + 4.0 kg 2 MAP) and paraquat + diuron (at 0.8 + 1.25 kg 2 MAP) were compared with intercropping with cowpeas Kanakamani and hand weeding (4 times) for the control of weeds in bananas Nendran.
