Abstract
Of 8 hybrid male F1 varieties tested over 5 years (1987-91) in the Valais area of Switzerland, Backlim, Geinlim and Boonlim showed the most promise. They were more vigorous and formed a more homogeneous crop stand than double hybrid and clonal hybrid varieties already in production, and yielded 0.7-0.8 kg/msuperscript 2 (grade 1). Resistance to Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. asparagi root wilt was low, especially that of Geinlim.
