In a field experiment on loam soil in 1985-87 at Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, sugarcane CO 1148 yields and cane sucrose content increased with increase in irrigation frequency (at 25, 50 or 75% available soil moisture) whereas increasing N fertilizer rate (0, 75, 150 or 225 kg/ha) increased yields but decreased sucrose content.
