Anonymous, 2013: Suitability of Translocation Sites for Florida Burrowing Owls Prey Availability and Diet. We investigated if relative abundance of invertebrate prey for Athene cunicularia floridana (Florida Burrowing Owl) differed between two pre-translocation (i.e., non-mined) sites and one translocation (i.e., reclaimed mine) site...

Harmsen A.G.; Chen W., 1992: Resolution of pneumocystis carinii pneumonia in cd4 positive lymphocyte depleted mice given aerosols of heat treated escherichia coli. Mice were thymectomized and depleted of CD4+ lymphocytes by treatment with monoclonal antibody to induce Pneumocystis carinii (PC) pneumonia (PCP). These mice were then exposed to aerosols of heat-treated Escherichia coli three times a week. Aeros...

Moroz, A. F., 1956: A comparative study of the content of nucleic acids in cultures of some bacteria sensitive and resistant to grisemin and streptomycin. A study was conducted on the change of chemical composition and the speed of growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Bacterium coli in the process of acquiring resistance to grisemin and streptomycin. Resistance to these antibiotics was accompanied by...

Sykora P., 1984: The discrepancy between in vivo and in vitro experiments with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon carcinogens a hypothetical explanation. This hypothesis is an attempt to explain a discrepancy between in vivo and in vitro polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH)-carcinogenesis experiments, described frequently in the literature. The amphibious species Glyceria fluitans successfully thrives in an intermittent ecosystem Lake Cerknica, where floods alternate with dry periods. The species grows over the environmental gradient from open water to dry land. The plant's phen...

Regions flanking the b-globin locus in both mouse and human were sequenced. The b-globin genes in mouse and human are located in a linear array that is associated with a positive regulatory element that is situated 5' to the genes known as t...
