Zootechnical effect of L-carnitine supplements in diets for weaner pigs and rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)
Litz, H., 1993: Zootechnical effect of L-carnitine supplements in diets for weaner pigs and rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). Prufung des zootechnischen Effekts von L Carnitin Zulagen zum Futter von Absatzferkeln und Regenbogenforellen Oncorhynchus mykiss: iii + 61 pp.
In 2 experiments with pigs, 8.6 and 7.9 kg, respectively, and a trout trial (body weight 44 g), effects of L-carnitine supplements on growth and feed conversion efficiency, plasma triacylglycerols and fatty acids (experiment 1 and trout) and plasma urea (experiment 2) were studied. L-Carnitine 0, 10, 20 and 40 mg/kg supplements had no effect on growth and feed conversion efficiency when feed without fat supplement (metabolizable energy (ME) 13.2 MJ/kg) was given.
