Arthropathy - tail necrosis syndrome and trichothecenes in beef cattle. Preliminary observations

, : Arthropathy - tail necrosis syndrome and trichothecenes in beef cattle. Preliminary observations. Atti della Societa Italiana di Buiatria 25: 395-405

A syndrome, characterized by tail necrosis and osteoarthritis affecting the tarsus and metatarsus of housed fattening cattle of 300-350 kg body weight receiving maize and ryegrass silage, is described on a farm in the eastern Po valley; 10-12% of cattle were affected. The basic pathological change was an ischaemic necrosis.
