EMCAPA's conilon coffee (Coffea canephora) breeding programme, started in 1986, used the genetic variability of farm-cultivated plants in the north of Espirito Santo and adopted the following selection parameters: yield, incidence of rust (Hemileia vastatrix) and buttery spot (Colletotrichum sp.), plant architecture and vigour, sieve average higher than 13 and fruit maturation date.
