'Kaybonnet': a new blast-resistant, long-grain rice variety
Kaybonnet, derived from the cross Katy x Newbonnet and released in 1994, is a blast (Pyricularia grisea) resistant, high-yielding, long-grain rice variety. In Arkansas performance trials in 1992 and 1993, Kaybonnet produced a higher yield (7546 and 6687 lb/acre, respectively) than both of its parents, and exhibited high and stable milling yields (66-73%).
