The development of a mini-spear (an iron blade 16 cm long, 8 cm wide and 0.5 cm thick fixed to a bamboo stick 0.75 m long) and a leaf pusher (a stick 0.75 cm long which is straight at one end and slightly curved at the other to facilitate lifting and pushing aside the tobacco leaves to detect broomrape (Orobanche cernua) shoots growing underneath) to weed out O. cernua among air-cured tobacco is described.
