, : 12 500 Holsteins in the middle of the desert. Producteur de Lait Quebecois 14(8): 32-34

Dairy farming in Saudi Arabia is concentrated in the East of the country. In 1990 the country had 250 000 dairy cows. Operations of the Al Safi Dairy Est, a dairy farm at Al Kharj, south of Riyadh, are outlined. The farm is irrigated using subterranean water supplies brought to the surface by means of pumps. The farm has a dairy herd of 12 500 Holstein cows, with an average annual milk yield of 8000 kg/cow.
