, : Acanthocheilonema viteae: rational design of the life cycle to increase production of parasite material using less experimental animals. Applied Parasitology 36(1): 22-33

The maintenance of the life cycle of Acanthocheilonema viteae is described with the aim to increase the production of parasite material using fewer experimental animals. The filariae were maintained in jirds (Meriones unguiculatus) and in soft ticks (Ornithodoros moubata). The optimal infection dose for jirds was 80 infective larvae (L3). the mean worm number in groups of animals varies between 18 and 30 adult worms.
