Agro-economic performance of pulses based farming systems on Ganges flood plain soils of Bangladesh

In an on-farm field experiment in 1989-91 in Ishurdi regions of Bangladesh, rice was followed in the summer season by fallow, mung beans Kanti or black gram MAK-1 and in the winter season by lentils L-5, mustard SS-75 or wheat Kanchan. Inclusion of mung beans or black gram in the cropping system generally increased the yields of the winter crops.
