Airport malaria: study of six cases of airport malaria observed in and around Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airport

Bulletin de l' Academie Nationale de Medecine 179(2): 335-353

During the very hot 1994 summer, 6 new cases of airport malaria (due to Plasmodium falciparum) were observed in and around Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airport, France. Four patients were regular or occasional airport employees. The 2 other cases were inhabitants of a city 7 km away. Entomological investigations suggested that airport employees' cars served to disseminate anophelines outside the airport areas. The 6 cases were very severe and 1 patient died.
