Analysis of pathogenicity and germination of the fungus Nomuraea rileyi (Farlow) Samson isolated in Federal District

Monosporal isolates of Nomuraea rileyi were isolated from larvae of Spodoptera frugiperda and Anticarsia gemmatalis in Brasilia, Brazil, during 1989-90 and 1990-91. Bioassays with S. frugiperda showed that isolates originating from this species were more virulent (53.3-82.2% mortality) than those from A. gemmatalis (11.1-26.7% mortality). The median lethal time varied from 4.8 to 8.5 days.
