Apple varieties resistant to scab and powdery mildew. 2. First results

Fruit Belge 62(451): 132-135

Results of Belgian studies on resistance to Venturia inaequalis and Podosphaera leucotricha in 1993 with some of the varieties most recently bred for resistance are described and tabulated. Almost all the varieties showed no infection with scab, and NY62-306-10, NY65-707-19 and Rosana were free of infection with powdery mildew, while some other varieties showed little mildew infection. Data on fruit quality and yield are presented in tabular form for the 14 varieties tested.
