Application of the RAPD-PCR (Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA) technique to the identification of insects

Application of the RAPD-PCR (Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA) technique to the identification of insects

Investigacion Agraria, Produccion y Proteccion Vegetales 9(2): 289-297

The application of the RAPD-PCR (Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA) technique for the taxonomic identification of several groups of insects is described. Through the detection of polymorphisms, the separation of species belonging to the Aleyrodidae, Tenebrionidae, Tephritidae, Thripidae and Aeolothripidae was possible. The technique also makes it possible to distinguish between different lines or populations of some of the species under study.
