The Public Awareness Checklist (PAC) which was developed within the context of the Canadian National Screening Initiative, aims to increase public awareness of malnutrition in the elderly and to identify persons at risk for nutritional problems. The applicability of the PAC was examined in a survey of elderly persons of whom 120 (mean age 78.9 years) were supplied with meals on wheels and 78 (mean age 75.9 years) who attended community centres where meals were supplied.
