Biocontrol efficiency of Pasteuria penetrans against Meloidogyne javanica was studied under glasshouse conditions. Two levels of nematode inoculum (445 and 890 juveniles/plant) encumbered with bacterial spores and without spores were inoculated to 7 days old chickpea seedlings in experiment 1. In experiment 2, four levels of nematode inoculum (275, 550, 825 and 1100 juveniles/plant) encumbered with bacterial spores and without spores were studied. The number of spores encumbered per juvenile were 15 and 30 for experiment 1 and 2 respectively. The levels of nematode control after 60 days for experiment 1 and 2 varied between 79.93% - 82.53% and 28.27% - 88.16% respectively. High percentage of control was obtained at lower levels of inoculum.
