Chemical mutagenesis and characteristics of induced mutants in Korean barley cultivars. 1. Effects of chemical mutagens on growth inhibition in M1 generation and chlorophyll deficiency mutants in M2 generation

Korean barley cultivars Dongbori 1, Doosan 29 and Mudeungssalbori were treated with sodium azide, diethyl sulfate and ethyl methanesulfonate. The emergence rate of M1 seeds of all cultivars was not significantly affected by treatment with the mutagens at concentrations lower than 4.5, 20 and 10 mM for sodium azide, diethyl sulfate and ethyl methanesulfonate, respectively.
