Several new alkaloids of the pleiocarpine type, namely N-1-methoxycarbonyl-12-hydroxy-DELTA-16,17-kopsinine, N-1-methoxycarbonyl-11,12-methylenedioxy-DELTA-16,17-kopsinine N (4) oxide and N-1-methoxycarbonyl-12-methoxy-DELTA-16,17-kopsinine N (4) oxide, in addition to N-1-methoxycarbonyl-11,12-methylenedioxy-DELTA-16,17-kopsinine, N-1-methoxycarbonyl-12-methoxy-DELTA-16,17-kopsinine and kopsinine have been isolated from the leaves and stem of Kopsia profunda.
