Demethylated kraft lignin as a substitute for phenol in wood adhesive

, : Demethylated kraft lignin as a substitute for phenol in wood adhesive. Chemistry and Industry of Forest Products 15(3): 36-42

By demethylating kraft lignin the number of reactive sites with formaldehyde was increased and its reactivity with formaldehyde was also increased because of catechol formation in the lignin structure. Through demethylation the lignin was made more reactive than phenol.
