Dendroclimatological study of Picea glehnii growing in the Teshio Experimental Forest of Hokkaido University

The relationship between tree growth ring variables and climatic factors was statistically investigated using response function analysis. Trees of Picea glehnii growing naturally in the Teshio Experimental Forest, northern Hokkaido, were used. The tree-ring variables (width and density of annual ring, earlywood and latewood) were obtained by soft X-ray densitometry. The average temperature and the total precipitation in each month were used as the climatic factors.
