Permanent pastures and natural grasslands in Bulgaria, totalling 2 039 100 ha, are classified into 11 and 13 types, respectively. Each one is described in terms of principal species, area, altitude and herbage yields. The chief modes of utilization in these areas, traditionally receiving very little fertilizer, are described briefly.
