, : Description of somatic kineties and vestibular organization of Balantidium jocularum sp. n., and possible taxonomic implications for the class Litostomatea and the genus Balantidium. Acta Protozoologica, 321: 37-45

Balantidium jocularum sp. nov. is described and figured using light microscopy, SEM and TEM, from the intestinal lumen of the fish Naso tuberosis obtained from shallow marine waters off Lizard Island, Great Barrier Reef, Queensland, Australia. The new species is described with special attention to the kinetid organization of normal somatic, special dextr-oral somatic field, and right and left vestibular kineties.
