, : Desertification control in the Sahel regions - low-cost large-scale afforestation techniques. Note Tecniche Centro di Sperimentazione Agricola e Forestale/Istituto di Sperimentazione per la Pioppicoltura ( 10): 24 pp.

From experiences acquired during the PIRD (Programma Integrato di Riabilitazione del Damergou) afforestation project in Damergou (Niger), proposals are outlined for anti-desertification techniques. Details are given of site preparation methods, and planting (or direct sowing) of a variety of tree species - Acacia spp., Prosopis juliflora, P. chilensis, Balanites aegyptiaca, Ziziphus mauritiana, Boscia senegalensis, Calotropis procera, Leptadenia pyrotechnica, Parkinsonia aculeata.
