Desflurane in the dog; minimum alveolar concentration (MAC) alone and in combination with nitrous oxide
The minimum alveolar concentration (MAC) of desflurane was measured in 5 adult Beagle dogs using a supramaximal electrical stimulus. The value for MAC was 10.32 +or- 0.14 SEM % (range 9.83-10.6%). Addition of 50% nitrous oxide to the carrier gas lowered MAC to 7. 99 +or- 0.57% (range 6.7-9.13%).
