In a field experiment conducted during 1987-90, clipping heights of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 cm from ground level were tested. The grass was clipped at 4-month intervals. Dry herbage and essential oil yields were highest with a clipping height of 20 cm. Leaf area index was also highest with a clipping height of 20 cm (5.23). Oil content and root DW and carbohydrate content increased up to the highest clipping height.
