Hybrid male broilers were given diets containing the feed additive roxarsone (3-nitro-4-hydroxyphenylarsonic acid) for 49 days (22.7 g/t) or for 21, 28, 35, 42 and 49 days (45.4 g/t), respectively. The additive was not fed between withdrawal time and slaughter at 54 days old and effects on the development of leg disorders were monitored.
