In field experiments in the dry seasons of 1988 and 1989 on a medium black calcareous soil at Junagadh, Gujurat, India, groundnuts GAUG-1, GG-2 and J-11 were grown with normal or excess irrigation and were given iron sulphate, iron citrate or sulphur fertilizers or no fertilizer. With no fertilizer, leaf chlorosis due to Fe and S deficiencies appeared 10-15 days after emergence (DAE) and showed maximum intensity between 30 and 70 DAE.
