Effect of low temperature on the hatchability and efficiency of the larvae of Epiricania melanoleuca Fletcher in parasitizing Pyrilla perpusilla Walker

Fresh 2-, 4- and 6-day-old eggs of Epiricania melanoleuca were kept at low temperatures of 5.0, 7.5, 10.0, 12.5 and 15.0 degrees C. No hatching was observed in fresh 2- and 4-day-old eggs at 5.0 to 10.0 degrees C. Six-day-old eggs kept at 5.0, 7.5 and 10.0 degrees C hatched in 27.3, 30.0 and 31.3% of cases, resp. Thus, these temperature levels proved unfavourable for the storage of eggs. However, 12.5 and 15.0 degrees C were suitable for the storage of eggs of E. melanoleuca.
