Stecklings (7.5 or 15 cm long) of the radish Pusa Reshmi were planted at spacings of 60 x 30, 60 x 45 and 60 x 60 cm on a well-drained soil, and N fertilizer was applied at 0, 50, 100 or 150 kg/ha. Application of 150 kg N/ha with a plant spacing of 60 x 60 cm gave the highest 1000-seed weight, germination percentage, seedling length, vigour index, seed N and protein contents and seed yield (32.39 and 29.39 g/plant with 150 kg N/ha and 60 x60-cm spacing, respectively).
