Effect of raising seedlings in linked paper pots on growth, yield and quality of sugarbeet

Sugarbeet seeds were sown in traditional pots or in linked paper pots which were made of cellulase resistant paper and consisted of 2 leaves which allowed roots to push through the side seams. These were then transplanted to the field at Obihiro (volcanic ash) or Makubetsu (alluvial soil), Tokachi, in 1987-90.
