Effect of rates and dates of nitrogen application on development and yield of rape (Brassica napus L. var. oleifera Metzg) grown in pots in a plastic tunnel

Rape Norin was given 0, 75 or 150 p.p.m. N at sowing and 0, 225 or 450 p.p.m. in 3 equal doses 40, 57 and 82 d after sowing. The highest rates of N at sowing or as topdressing gave the greatest increases in plant height 47, 96 and 124 d after sowing. Foliar chlorophyll content was affected only topdressed N. Increasing rates of applied N increased number of flowering branches, number of pods/plant and number of seeds/pod and also reduced length of growth cycle.
