Effect of recreational impact on natural regeneration in the ribbon-like Scots pine forests of the forest-steppe zone of Ob basin

Effect of recreational impact on natural regeneration in the ribbon-like Scots pine forests of the forest-steppe zone of Ob basin

Lesnoe Khozyaistvo ( 12): 26-27

The degree of recreational disturbance (Kr) was measured as the percentage of the area of compacted soil (i.e. paths, trials, picnic areas, and play or sports areas). Here Kr <10% is classed as low disturbance, Kr=10-30% as medium disturbance, and Kr >30% as severe disturbance, and Kr >30% as severe disturbance. Data are given for 18 study plots in Pinus sylvestris stands in the Altai region.
