Effect of reduced soil tillage on energy input and yield in winter triticale cultivation

In field trials on good rye complex soil at Lipki in 1988-91, triticale Malno was grown after (a) traditional tillage (skimming, harrowing, pre-sowing ploughing + harrowing), (b) a single ploughing + harrowing, (c) use of cultivator + cage roller or (d) no tillage. Yields were 4.31, 4.08, 3.92 and 3.78 t/ha, energy inputs 1314, 810, 414 and 288 MJ/ha and coefficients of energy efficiency 31.0, 47.5, 89.4 and 123.9 for (a), (b), (c) and (d), respectively.
