RNA in the diet of adults of Dacus cucurbitae (Bactrocera cucurbitae) was shown to be important for reproduction, as its omission prolonged the preoviposition period from 4 to 9 days and reduced the oviposition period, adult lifespan, total oviposition and egg viability by 43.00 days, 36.30 days, 2737.70 eggs/20 females, and 25.60%, resp.
