Effect of rootstock on growth, yield and mineral element content in apple leaves

Trees of cultivars McIntosh, Empire, Spartan, Melrose and Alwa on M.26, MM.106, A2 or Antonowka rootstocks were planted in 1979 and monitored from 1982 to 1991. Data are tabulated on trunk cross-sectional area, fruit yield, fruit weight and leaf N, P, K, Mg and Ca contents. Trunk cross-sectional area was determined by rootstock and scion interaction. Yields were highest on A2. Alwa and McIntosh gave higher yields than the other cultivars.
