In a field experiment on loamy sand during the rainy seasons of 1985-88 at Ludhiana, Punjab, groundnuts M 13 were sown on the 4th week in May (1986-87 only), 3rd week in June, or 1st or 3rd week in July in rows 20, 30 or 40 cm apart. Mean pod yield of the crop sown in the 3rd week in June was 2.06 t/ha, which was 14.6, 32.0 and 49.5% higher than crops sown in 4th week in May, and 1st and 3rd week in July, respectively.
