In a field experiment on a loamy sand soil during the rainy season of 1990 at Ludhiana, Indian Punjab with rice PR 106, irrigating to 5 cm 2 d after the disappearance of ponded water gave higher grain yield than irrigating 2 d later (4.11 vs. 3.66 t/ha). Terminating irrigation 7, 14 or 21 d after 50% flowering gave grain yields of 3.43, 3.95 and 4.28 t, respectively.
