In a field experiment on clay soil during the summer season of 1982 at Dharwad, Karnataka, 3 sunflower cultivars irrigated at cumulative pan evaporation of 60, 80 or 100 mm gave seed yields of 2.77, 2.63 and 2.42 t/ha, resp., compared with 1.72 t from irrigating at bud formation, flowering and seed filling stages.
