Effect of season on the incidence of sperm abnormalities in fresh and frozen semen of Holstein Friesian bulls in Bulgaria

Semen of 10 Holstein Friesian bulls was studied to observe the incidence of sperm abnormalities during different seasons and to note, if there was any difference in their percentage in fresh and frozen semen. The total sperm abnormalities as well as the abnormalities of head and mid piece in fresh semen were highest in autumn, and lowest in spring season. There was a 9% increase in the incidence of total sperm abnormalities in frozen semen as compared to fresh semen.
