Effect of seed and nursery treatments on short duration rice

Madras Agricultural Journal 81(1): 48-49

In a field experiment in 1989/90 at Killikulam, Tamil Nadu, rice IR 50, ADT 36, ASD 16 and ASD 17 seedlings were raised after soaking the seeds with or without CCC or in seedbeds subjected to wetting and drying cycle and transplanted 35 or 45 d after sowing (DAS). Grain yields were decreased by transplanting 45-d-old seedlings. Excepting IR 50, grain yields were highest in treatments subjected to wetting and drying cycle in the nursery bed.
