Effect of seed cane and sett rate on growth and yield of sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum)

In a field experiment in 1989/90 at Buria, Haryana, the upper half, upper two-thirds or the full length of sugarcane was used for seed cane. Forty-five d after planting, germination percentages from these 3 sources were 43.3, 40.3 and 38.7%, respectively, and the corresponding cane yields were 525.7, 449.6 and 472.2 t/ha.
