Effect of seed rates on number of transplants in bidi tobacco nurseries

Increasing the sowing rate up to 800 mg seed/msuperscript 2 increased the number of transplanted tobacco seedlings produced. 400-600 seeds/msuperscript 2 produced the optimum number of usable seedlings as higher sowing rates led to increased production of lanky seedlings and occurrence of damping off.
