Effect of seed size, rooting medium and fertilizers on the growth of seedlings of Ceiba pentandra (Linn.) Gaertn

An experiment was conducted at the College of Forestry, Vellanikkara, Kerala, to determine the optimum size of seeds (small, medium, large or average), suitable rooting medium (1:1 soil/river sand or 1:1:1 soil/river sand/FYM) and fertilizer (NPK) requirement for producing good quality seedlings of Ceiba pentandra. In general, The presence of farmyard manure in the growing medium was generally more important than seed size or fertilizer for producing good quality seedlings.
