Effect of seeding depth on the growth, mesocotyl elongation and herbicidal response of rice and barnyardgrass

Greenhouse trials were conducted in Korea Republic to assess the effect of post-sowing application of herbicides to rice and Echinochloa crus-galli (barnyardgrass). The seeds of both species were sown at 0, 1, 2 and 3 cm depths under dry direct-seeded conditions, and at 0, 1 and 2 cm water depths. Butachlor at 1800 g/ha and thiobencarb at 2100 or 4200 g were applied five days after sowing. Plants were harvested ten days after sowing to assess the effect of sowing depth.
