Effect of seeding methods, seed rates and fertility levels on yield and economics of late sown wheat after rice in flood prone area

In field trials at Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh in the 1989-92 rabi seasons, wheat HUW 234 grain yield, when sown on 28 Dec., averaged 2.39, 2.77, 2.96 and 3.27 t/ha when broadcast, line sown in 22.5 cm rows, line sown in 15 cm rows, or cross-sown (22.5 x 22.5 cm), respectively. Yield averaged 2.64, 2.92 and 2.99 t/ha with sowing rates of 100, 125 and 150 kg seed/ha and 2.27, 3.22 and 3.33 t without fertilizers, with 60 kg N + 30 kg P2O5 + 25 kg K2O/ha, or with double these NPK rates, respectively.
